PS3 or PC

Post by Lebban »

Hello everyone.
I've been recently saving some money, and now I have the opportunity of buying one of them. But I don't really know what to choose, so I'd like to hear your opinions.

1. PS3

2. A new PC with some really nice hardware parts such as video card, CPU, ram, power supply...

I personally have a 360 but that's just because I've never really enjoyed the Playstation console stuff -- I know it's not much different and the online play is free, blablabla but I'm not really able to comment on that part.

The price difference between a gaming computer (decent one) and a PS3 is quite a lot though, are you sure you would have enough money? I personally built my last computer for testing and trying to sell it on eBay at the moment but they are really a good way to save money and aren't too hard to figure out. I mean do you have a nice computer right now?

I'm running WoW @ 30fps in average and 7-10fps when "much things are happening". So I'd say it's bad. I've got a Dual Core E2200 @2.2Ghz + GeForce 9500gt atm and I have enough money to buy a Quad Core Q9400 @ 2.66GHz and a 460GTX.

460GTX is good, that is what all the computers at BlizzCon were running on and they were running cataclysm at max effects. Probably the 1GB memory ones.

If you can I might consider getting a higher hertz processor, if not it's fine it's still very good for Quad Core but I believe WoW can only be played on dual cores, but you might want to look into that.

I'll be playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I'll take a look at the Q9550.

Your PC is not bad, nawb.
I play on ~10 fps when doing nothing, ~5 fps when dueling, ~4 in arenas, ~2-3 in BGs/PvE. I CAN'T play and talk with peeps in skype/ventrilo at the same time, my graphics are on lowest, and BlaBlaBla sum randomz shitz, eh. Single core intel celeron OC'd to 2.8GHz, 768mb RAM, 128 mb video memory.
Still saying ur PC is bad?

Anyway, I'd say either PS3 or Xbox, cuz u can get pretty much everything working on PC like yours atm, if you know enough about PCs, but you ain't gonna be playing xbox 360 or ps3 games on older consoles any soon(ever most likely).

You should spend $25 to upgrade your gfx card to 256mb one and you could run decent FPS on your PC.

My old (currently secondary PC which I use for backup) is a 1.8ghz SINGLE CORE, 2gb ram (normal ddr) and 512mb card (like $40) and I can run ~60 fps in BGs when theres no fighting and 30-50 when fighting is going on depending how many people on the screen (almost everything at midd except shadows and player details), but can't run skype at the same time. Vent doesn't really take any resources so thats easy to run though.

But on topic: buy a PC, you'll be able to run WoW better too. :p

Yeah, Endania, i know, but since i'm kind of trying to quit wow, and playing it rarely, I don't really need anything to be upgraded on my pc yet. Enough for M$ office, freepascal, movies, internet. I prefer spending money on sports, real life entertainment.

If he's thinking about playing cata and other epic games coming soon, or recently come out, then yes, I'd suggest to buy a new PC, otherwise, dunno, ps3 or xbox.
