Just For Options

Post by Henhouse »

I just want to see people's options here. When we support 3.0.3 would you like it level 80, NO Wrath (Northrend and Death Knights) or Level 80 with Wrath support(Death Knights Northrend, etc.) or keep it the same with 3.0.3 support, no level 80, no Wrath support.

My personal opinion is not to turn to wrath for the following reason(s). A vast majority of people play on this server due to it still being a tbc server.. do arena's even work.. item wise? shouldn't donator gear aswell as non donator gear update and donator gear be given instantly? Who will use all the new instances...?
Im thinking about the extra work for you aswell here Henhouse. Im just running some scenarios against the idea of it.

For the change to 80 + wrath, it may boost the people that play this server and MAYBE even get people to do dungeons and such. but apart from that its the only up side i can see for that.

My 2cents.

Fatal.

hey thank you for your input is greatly appreciated and in some aspects I agree with you but then again you have to think about the other people on the server because if I know one thing for sure it's hard to get a roomful of people to agree on one thing. and just to clear things up FATAL IS NOT TIGOR!

/agree

Because resilliance, crit, hit, etc all scale based on your level, if you are level 80 but have level 70 gear, you will notice a fairly significant drop in the survivability that resilliance provides. That's why, if you've looked at any WOTLK pvp gear, the epic stuff has a rediculous amount of resilliance (in BC/lvl 70 terms) but in the % bonus it provides at 80, it is very similar.

Here is an example:
LvL 70 Warrior PvP Chest vs LvL 80 Warrior PvP Chest

The LvL 70 pvp chest provides a .61% resilliance boost at lvl 70 and the lvl 80 chest provides a .81% resilliance boost at lvl 80. But if the lvl 70 chest were used at lvl 80 it would only provide a .29% resilliance boost.

That's less than half of the benefit it provides at level 80 and about half as much as you would get from the lvl 70 chest at lvl 70. And considering that health won't scale that much (seeing as the only health bonuses would come from your base health via leveling) the drop in survivability will be ridiculously unbalanced, also considering the use of 10 more talent points to further scale dps very considerably.

For a server based on pvp, IMO, a big part should make sure the gear is balanced. Even with the slight loss in dps from 70-80 gear scaling, the additional 10 talent points is an overall dps boost for most classes. However the survivability bonuses from the additional talent points and the significant loss of survivability from the resilliance scaling and very little hp bonus gained from lvl 70-80 would be increadibly imba for several classes.

Also remember there are three levels of pvp gear available at lvl 80. Savage (blue), Hateful (epic ilvl 200), and Deadly (ilvl 213). So everyone could start out in Savage, raid for Hateful, and Donate for deadly (if lvl 80 + wotlk were implemented). I think that would encourage both raiding and donating alot (to go from good blues to good purps).

Just some information to think about. I know Henhouse will do whatever he thinks is best for the server, and so far He's done an amazing job, so i trust whatever he decides.

Ok this is what is happening.

Level 80 & Wrath Support: Means everyone is 80 and you can explore Northrend and maybe do a couple of the instances. it means more work for Henhouse and what not.

Level 80 & NO Wrath: Means everyone would be 80 and get lvl 80 gear I believe, and skills. But there just won't be 70 out of the 100 hundred players playing death knights.

Level 70 & 3.0.3 Support (No Wrath): Just means lvl 70 with the 70 gear and all the new skills and talents.

If I got any of that wrong please feel free to correct me.

Hmm i think it would be best to Block the Death Knight Class. Many private server have done that. Beacus otherwise it will be 99 DK's and 1 Rogue online or something. Or in some how that the DK Class start at lvl 55 and then need to lvl with some High Rate.
