Re: Bringing some fresh wind to Smolderforge?

Heya,
Been playing here again lately and I feel the server as a whole never changed a lot, it's always been a solid server with this BG focussed concept, the community itself and the non-existance of crossfaction BG's promoting an alliance vs horde BG "competition".
This concept has been working for a long time but when I compare Smolderforge to 2012 and 2015, the visible changes I am seeing in terms of content are the transmog feature, legendary weapons, the removal of SWP gear and solo queue.
Another thing I have noticed is a -very slowly- but dwindling population which is understandable too. Wow is getting old and TBC even more so. Some people have played here for years and just get bored or move on with life eventually, however I think a lot of the people could be kept on the server or we could even attract more new people to the server by adding more content. Adding more things for everyone to appeal to a wider audience.
We wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel it'd be completely obvious and easy things that could bring more people.
- Reintroduce SWP Gear. Yes some classes benefit more from it than others. Some class speccs are almost dependant however on getting certain secondary stats from those items they can't get otherwise and more gear means more ways to customize your character setup. We could go the route of AT and prevent certain OP items to be equipped inside arena.
- Add Gurubashi Arena. Simply add Diremaul or Gurubashi to the teleporter, add a reagents and consumables vendor. Replace the chest loot with badges of justice or something similiar, perhaps add a kill X amount of players daily quest NPC. This gives people something to do while waiting for BG pops. It gives people something to do in early mornings with low population.
- Introduce seasonal class changes similiar to AT and promote arena solo queue and 2v2 environment. Add more vendors that allow you to buy things for arena points and/or rating. Add a daily quest that lets people gear up over arena similiar to how BG's are working with the daily quest. Rogues, Druids, Warriors etc. have been dominating over arena for a long, long time. What if we add seasonal, mild class changes to change up the metagame? Have a season where rets will perform better. A season where ele shaman suddenly works well. Class variety at the high ratings. Have other speccs and classes perform at the top of the food chain for short windows to spice up things.
- Add Jump Events/Staircase events to the teleporter. Those can be rewarding or not but they add content, especially for casual players who are very reluctant to go into a toxic, pvp oriented environment. Apart from that it also gives people something to do in early mornings/nights when the server has really low population.
I could go on for a little while longer but I'd like some other people of Smolderforge to contribute and give their opinions first. In my opinion, we could use some fresh wind and new things to do.
Best regards,
