Pretty fucking easy problem to solve then. Too bad its taking months to fix and in result the population keeps going down. :)

Also do you seriously think GY farming is ok because "you can just leave the BG and wait 15 mins to join another one"? Not sure if serious. Not to mention, you'll most likely run into the same premade later on anyways.

I'm not saying it fixes the current situation, but not doing anything doesn't either. If you have fun with inspecting people, just to maybe stay on #1 (I'd say that's the most intense part!), it might result in a lot of paranoia after a while.
Oh wait I wasn't supposed to say that, it's all about the fun, I forgot that.
In the end it sounds more reasonable than capping HKs if you ask me...

Wintrading?
Did you know you could inspect people ingame? =P
The rest gets looked at through logs anyway... honestly I don't see what's so bad in removing the Armory. It's a neat feature, sure, which apparently gets used by 2 people.

While the persian empire blotted out their own sun, to hide from a 300 population, the rest of the listed issues pretty much belong to any other private realm. At least I'm not aware of a single private server where people don't complain about stuff like that.
I still think it's a mix of community issues, most notably elitism, and the lack of character advancement. The server just doesn't keep people playing for too long, as most are happy with S3, unless they are getting annoyed by the global chat or random tells before that.
WoW never worked because of creative gameplay design anyway, in the end it's the people alone who bind you to your subscription I guess... that or Pandas, I don't know.

Ban GY farming
Cap WSG's length to 1 hour
Freeze horde character creation for a while
Give alliance a discount for s4 donations

That's all that needs to be done really. It's an easy solution. I agree it should have been done a long time ago, you guys should have seen it about 1 year ago. It was terrible.

Make GY farming prohibited (the way FAK and Ezatt's guilds are doing it. Ofc 2v10 WSG will get farmed but for other reasons), give a couple of few days suspensions and DISBAND BOTH GUILDS.

1. Bugs. This is actually the most common reason why people complain. If there are bugs they want this fixed and if it doesn't gets fixed some people could leave the server. Solution for this: Try to find an new developer that is active and pay him?
2. Lag. After the upgrade the server is a lot more unstable then before.
3. Crashes. People leave if they can't even log on the server so server crashes like the DDoS attack from last night, will scare people away as well..
4. Screenfreeze problem: A lot of people got this problem and it's fucking annoying.
5. Iran got blocked (think that was around ~30% of the population (if not more).
6. Diablo III release (the population decrease happened around the same date if I'm not mistaken could have lost some players because of that xD).
Let me give you my professional responses:

1. No, no, no. Sure they're annoying but bugs exist on every server since, well, ever. Smolderforge was created in 2008 when private servers would crash because you sat down in-game. There was always the acceptance of bugs. This new mentality that servers have to be PERFECT when they're FREE is really annoying, and utterly stupid. I'd rather those people leave. OregonCore when we switched to it in 2010 was like the beacon of light. It was the biggest improvement we ever saw, but MORE, MORE, MORE WE MUST HAVE MORE, ALWAYS MORE. Get over it. It's TBC, it's old, it's practically dead. We are making improvements over time but comeon, this is a 4 year old game.

2. Actually it appears to be a lot better. Not counting the DDoS attacks we had if you're referring to those. The CPU is 1.0Ghz faster on every core... That's impossible to say it's worse.

3. Okay, shit happens. We cannot guarantee 24/7 online time. I think 8 hours of downtime isn't going to affect 4 years of population. Do you remember when we did a 12 hour maintenance before? Yes, there are worse things than you not being able to login and kill stuff.

4. THIS HAS EXISTED FOREVER IN ALL 2.4.3 PRIVATE SERVERS AND IS NOT IN ANY MEANS AN ACCEPTABLE EXCUSE DEAR GOD.

5. This is the #1 reason. I'm not joking. They made 1/3 of our population and 1/3 is missing. Problem located. It's time for the US to bomb Iran, kill tons of people and liberate the dead people with free Internet so they can play SF again. It'll work out fine, trust me. The US government has our interests at heart -- they'll get the filler player/cheaters back.

6. Um, maybe a couple, but not significant amount. You forget the majority of people that play private servers cannot afford retail (or don't like it ofc), and are from 3rd-world countries or other words don't want to pay. Doubt they're playing a $50 game. Some, yes, but not many.

You wanted to know why the population went down and I gave you my opinion from my point of view then you can come with "excuses" but that doesn't solves the problem here... I'm just telling you that I am not the main problem.

Not THE problem. A problem. Maybe you should take note and STOP DOING it.
