I'm super excited for this feature myself. A few details that are worth noting:
- You'll queue via a NPC selection option, probably on our default NPC queuer.
- All players will be in a 5v5 team defaulty called "3v3 Solo Queue" which will keep track of your rating and wins.
- Losses will not be recorded on your team record to prevent people from deleting their characters out of shame, only wins are recorded and rating.
- You still earn arena points + official rating from this queue
- Rating is calculated based on the average rating of 3 enemy opponents' rating. eg: (1500, 1500, 2000 = 1666 average rating so your win or loss is calculated on that).
- First season we implement this is (plan to have this feature live in a week or two) will be a test run, next season we may consider rewards based on its performance.
- It's cross faction
- It should be integrated into the spectating system on release

I spoke with the developer who made this about it, and he said with a server with only a couple hundred on, and those who queue, it would be harder to match make based on rating since it would have to start pairing 6 people per game, etc. Would lead to long queues and such. To be honest, I really like the idea of matchmaking, and maybe it's something we'll have to do in the future, but for now it will be totally randomly paired. So if your teammates are garbage and have terrible rating, remember your average rating will go down because of them, and due to this: you'll lose less rating.

Yeah I wasn't really considering the population in my excitement, the average rating thing should be okay, or at least as good a system as we can do now.

It's really exciting. Last feature on WoW BC I was dying for, was tmog.
Good that we'll not have to wait the few 3v3 events to be grouped with randoms.
Hey everyone, so we have this feature now. I've been working with it for a couple hours now getting it integrated into our system and smoothly integrated into our NPCs, spectate system, etc.
Something I wanted to ask the community about was regarding how a healer is specified. So unlike in Wrath+ servers where the game can simply use the LFG/LFR features where you select a role (Tank, DPS, Healer) this system is designed to auto detect it based on what your talents are.
The default at the moment is:
Paladin - Holy Shock
Priest - Pain Suppression or Lightwell
Druid - Swiftmend, or Moonkin form and Nature's Swiftnesss
Shaman - Earth Shield
Are these good, or do they need alterations? It's slightly concerning that previously with the late-popular shockadin spec contains Holy Shock. By those rules, Shockadins would have been considered as Healers and placed into arena based on that. Perhaps we should also force the check on the talent Healing Light or Divine Illumination? Please let me know what you all think.
I can also have the system, when you queue, tell you like "Queued as DPS" or "Queued as Healer" for clarity.
