Hostile mentality among many on the server
Re: Hostile mentality among many on the server
Arenaplayers are bad as fuck. They are good in fucking pillars but thats all.
How many BG players and how many arena players does this Server has? I am sure its 90% BG Players and i say remove the arena. We dont need ARENALOSERS

As a former guild master of One Spot and now of the new One Last Spot guild I would like to share how we dealt with it.
First of all in a couple of years of running the guild I can recall only one case of someone shit talking on /g, which I believe to be a very good result all considered.
We simply built an inside community of people we approved and who were mature enough, and never really had much problems, I understand this is not a server solution but it can help individual players who like to play with nice people.
On the one case I mentioned above I believe it was Hartun who kept shit talking on /g, I first warned him so many times to stop, then was forced to demote him to abuser rank so he can't talk on /g, sort of like Henhouse mute, and as his shit talking was not begin fed anymore he left and changed faction.
So I share the experience with Henhouse about people leaving the server, and I can understand this does not look like the best solution to you, but some people are just like that, and are not gonna change, and them going away might not be such a bad thing after all, I would rather loose one toxic member then make him scare away 10 good ones, think about it, how many left because of someone constantly shit talking to them?
In One Spot people thanked me when I muted him, if I didn't the good ones would have left after a while.
So join us in One Last Spot, Passion or BMAC for Horde and play with a community with a strict ban on shit talking.

Kett, Ruuren, and now... Who !?
Although talking about good guilds, I'd like to promote my new one, we share one spot new guidelines in the hope SF players will finally stop bullying over-sensitive kids.

Re: Hostile mentality among many on the server
For those who weren't aware, just a few days ago we changed DND to work on the server like it did in 3.x+. The reason being is because the feature was simply useless in its TBC form (pre-3.x whispers delivered, just notified the person you'd LIKE to not be disturbed). So now like in 3.x+ if a player is in DND, the whispers will NOT deliver, excluding GMs of course.
This will help with issues where players are being whisper-harassed, but it's just another step in trying to provide methods to deal with toxicity. I'm afraid a lot of just toxic people in general are hard to 'deal' with as they're not necessarily violating any rules -- just being a nuisance.

If you easily get upset when unknown random people insult or harass you, the internet might be the wrong place for you.
And I doubt this behavior is above average on sf. Go look in the comment section of videos that have anything to do with imigrants on youtube, THATS something worth a concern.
People do horrible things when they are guarded by anonymity. My record isn't clean either but almost noone has a problem with me. Maybe because I dont have a problem with anyone either. I never had to use the ignore function on sf. There is no importance in the opinion of someone you don't know unless it makes sense or youre discussing things. Especially on the internet.
I had lots of amusing conversations with players on sf which started with insults and led to mutual understanding. Lets hope your experience on sf will be more positive in the future.
