Re: Skype vs Vent vs Teamspeak
I think they all have their own useful purposes. I stopped using Ventrilo late 2009 and have since been using Skype. It's the best way for me to keep in contact with people over MSN, Vent, or whatever.
Using Ventrilo is helpful in instances for such as raids where there is need for a large amount of people to be in a voice-server and not have a "host" or be in a "call" that could drop. This is the only times I see Ventrilo being most effective. Skype does have better quality features built in. Ventrilo you have to define how much bandwidth can be used to quality and it doesn't change from that. Skype also has the ability in its calls to filter out feedback sound. So if you have a built-in mic and talk at the same time as someone else (or in this case always since Skype is always sending your sound) you won't hear your voice from the other person's speaker. Unless something is configured wrong. In Ventrilo if two people speak at the same time and one is not wearing a headset. You'll know...
I wanted to offer Ventrilo again to the server but I feel absolutely no one would use it. Everyone uses Skype these days.

Re: Skype vs Vent vs Teamspeak
I agree with Henry for the most part. Vent to me is usually used when I have a large amount of people in one conversation. I find skype to be a little more user friendly, but vent has a lot more options and configurations that you can modify if you know how to that I find very useful. Overall, I use skype a lot more because its much more than just a voice chat service, but vent has a lot more to offer if voice chat is all you're looking for.

Re: Skype vs Vent vs Teamspeak
I always preffered skype because you can just chat also.
With vent ans ts its in most cases only voice chat which is not the case in skype plus you can do a video chat in skype also which sometimes comes in handy when you have to show your screen for example.

Skype for the more personal stuff, but I've no problem using TS or Vent if it's only gaming related chitchat
)
Every programm is different. Even if I find Skype heavier than Vent or TS i prefer it, since my pc is still strong and most of my buddies ingame (heeyho) and IRL use it. TS is strictly gaming and really...cocky sometimes. Ventrillo was nice but annoying with that ctrl thingie as long as i used it.
