How long do these normally take?

Looking forward to knowing you all,

Server restart?
Re: Server restart?
It should have taken 3 minutes, however we seem to be encountering a random problem that has occurring. It's completely unrelated to the updates we put it, those were just content updates. We seem to be having a problem with the mail-system. It might be overloaded from voting mails.
Either way, we're trying to perform some cleanups and get it back up as soon as possible. I think I seriously am going to buy another server soon and move over to that. I'm sick of this 2009 version of linux, it's started to get really buggy lately...

Re: Server restart?
Thank you for your swift response! Knowing what is going on all ways makes me happy!
Also any update from 2009 software(And or Hardware) would be good. :)

1.) Why don't you just update your distro?Henhouse wrote:It should have taken 3 minutes, however we seem to be encountering a random problem that has occurring. 2.) When you move the database, or whatever you said you needed to do, I don't really know exactly but you should do that and getting a new server at the same time. Sounds easier.

I am updating the distro. But attempting to update it instead of just installing a new would doesn't really help anything if problems already exist and can actually CREATE more problems in the process.Aegrotatio wrote:1.) I would like to change my server's specs, we don't need 16gb of ram. It's a waste of money, I'd rather have a better CPU but I don't think there's really many options left anymore. I was checking on DediServ and they redid their website and dropped a lot of the old servers they used to have. Maybe I could make a ticket and ask... Their prices went up too. I'm paying 109 euros for each server (we have 2) a month and that was with a 10 euro off coupon (so originally 119). How I can get like the same server for 129 euro :/. So maybe I could try to find another company or something, not sure. But I really have liked DediServ.

Re: Server restart?
A followup:
I was checking out leaseweb which I was looking at once months ago, I can get the exact same server we have now for like the same 109 euros, and that's without applying a discount or anything. I almost feel like moving to them :O. We've never needed the 16GB of RAM, really I almost feel like downgrading our server to save some money. :P but it's not worth it I guess.
If I had a reason to leave DediServ I'd go to them...
