Annoying, gay (though i prefer something that would not discredit a category of people) and everything you like to call it, but not illegal or abusive.
And yes, asking them nicely not to do it anymore is pretty much all you can do.

I personally hate multiboxers. Hated them on retail, and have had the luxury not to run into them on Smolderforge because I simply don't play enough. While the arguments that it is legal are true there are also several things to consider when you compare retail to a private server:

- It costs money per account on retail.

- You have to work for gear on retail and level all the clones up.

- There are less players on a private server than a retail server therefore a higher chance of running into a multiboxer.

That said, you also have to really take into consideration the pros and cons of retail vs here.

for retail they get at least a whopping $156 per clone a year. Considering how many people throughout all their servers multibox, that could end up being a good chunk of cash they would be throwing away if they decided to make it a bannable offense. On here we get zip for letting multiboxers roam unless they decide to donate all their characters. So a pro is we might get a few extra donors, con is we get people ticketing and complaining about multiboxers shitting on their face. I can understand why retail would allow multiboxing because of the monetary gain, but we don't really get many benefits from allowing it. We just get to hear people say how much they hate it.

This was the best way I could explain my thoughts on multiboxing. Even though it's impossible to take opinions completely out of an opinion question, I tried my hardest to make it as unbiased as possible.

* You can rest assured, this thing is illegal on most other private servers.
** Well... I guess that depends on your definition of "abusive". Earlier you said that you can consider that compact group of 5 shamans casting 5 spells with perfect synchronization 5 individual players.
Well lol. I don't know what to add to that. Whenever you damage them, 5 perfectly synchronized chain heals will heal the whole group to full. Some people were suggesting that you can "destroy" the group by fearing /silencing or w/e the lead character. That is impossible however. The group will drop 5x Tremor totem and/or 5x Grounding totem - so much for your plan.
You also said that it doesn't affect your gameplay. Well i don't know. Being evaporated by a volley of chain lightings or light. bolts in 1 second without being able to do anything about it sure as hell affects MY gameplay. Dunno about others.

Edit: There is one more thing that i forgot to go over. Multiboxing is a wide term that can describe various activities. Not all of them are so damaging. For example logging two characters to exchange items w/o using mail or enchant each other is something completely different than taking up 5 spots on a battl ground just to zap people with lighting volleys. Also on non-instant servers players would log their main and some low lv alt to pull it through instances. That is slightly abusive but I wouldn't get into twist over that.

Hm, I guess the recent events need a new stance on this.

Thing is, over the last few weeks a lot of new players joined, population grew, and is just held back because of the 400 player cap (which makes sense as Hen explained in another thread).
I personally never cared about multiboxers, as much damage they may do, they can be dealt with easily, however, I never thought about the team which actually has them in their group.
So they not only fend off new players, but also piss off their own team, as they are useless when it comes to winning a BG in most cases.
There were a lot of valid reasons mentioned here, ranging from comparisons between retail and private to how they screw up their own team, while also upsetting the opponents under some circumstances.

It's not about people who can deal with them, it's about those who can't, as they are the majority. Not to forget how they block slots for individual players (both in a BG and the server itself). So I guess for how the server works currently the best would be to just not allow it.

Solution for Multiboxers : Put them all different groups... I am doing this often.
