Why change the host?
Why change the host?
so why did you guys change the host to germany??
because of poll that you guys made???
ONLY 15 ppl voted for the poll because no one knows about it
thats like 0.5% of the ppl on the server.
(this topic is probs going to get lockd because the GM wont let anyone complain about it)

Perhaps one should read the own post he is referring to before inquiring as to the question at which the answer was right in front of him: http://www.smolderforge.com/forums/view ... 262#p11262Whateva wrote:so why did you guys change the host to germany??
That is silly, why would I want to prohibit someone's feedback? In fact, I welcome it. Without feedback progress would not be possible for me. It is in the manner you present it that I welcome it wholeheartedly.Whateva wrote:(this topic is probs going to get lockd because the GM wont let anyone complain about it)
Now there were several reasons for the move of hosts, those being outlined in the post in which I linked above, but also the 15 people the voted would per chance represent the meaning of the title "Quick Poll:" as the poll was needed to be conducted in a quick manner in which at the time the votes were almost unanimous to move to Europe.

Re: Why change the host?
But in a second reply, I do see why you could be upset about the move, I'm not sure where you live in the world but anywhere Oceanic I would imagine is having the world ping at the moment.
Basically from the tests I've run the lag really isn't that bad. I get 125 eastern US and from the testers in the West US it's around 175. That is very good considering ping you get on retail on a server in you area is 150-400 normally.
If you want a way to reduce it you can try tunneling your Internet to where packets are sent faster. I know for some people that can DRASTICALLY reduce your latency.
Basically all I can say it I feel bad when people complain, but you have to realize, I CANNOT make everyone happy. There is a reason there is regions for retail WoW. It's just not possible for me to give fair single to everyone. Our entire reason to move was NOT ONLY based on the fact of it being in Europe. It was because this was a very good and affordable server. Now when you're paying $107 USD a month on a server, you want to try and get the best deal possible right? That was my logic. PreBC is almost done, my current host is not letting me get more RAM, I need to move the server away from California (East Cost is honestly the best place for the server in my opinion since it's in between) but unfortunately it had to be the Netherlands.
Who knows, if I find an even better host in the Eastern states, or maybe Canada(second thought, no there just have trees and wilderness above Maine and New York). So yeah if I can find a host that's EVEN BETTER I would be glad to move sometime. But I'm not sure if I see that happening, especially in America where they are going to try to get every penny they can squeeze out of you.

Re: Why change the host?
Yeah east coast would be a good place if that ever happens lol ill be back, just didnt want you guys to go in the path of AT. Oh well, guess US/Oceanic players will be going to resonance after getting shafted 2x, pretty much the only hope.
(and Antique: i dont get why you say AT TBC is dead, heaps of rus in arena all the time when u do /who ruins/nagrand/blades.)
And riski, im not trying to troll.. just peeved that i donated for nothing. Was pretty happy about the step towards oregon core, but meh.

Re: Why change the host?
I find it a little pathetic you are leaving the server of a little latency... wow. Think of the Europeans like Antique, Paws, etc who have been here years with latency and never left? Seriously, it's a little petty. Not to mention comparing us to AT makes no sense. Because where the server is hosted makes us AT, amirite? No, we are so identical to AT now you wouldn't even know the difference, cores, npcs, instances, pvp system, everything is identical no doubt.

Re: Why change the host?
but the thing is me and my friends get 400ping now (around 200 ping before), they get 200~ping before, and now they get sub 100 i assume.
Not going to change anything anyways because we are the minority, but still, gl with the core transition, hope it goes smooth.
