Re: Core switch to OregonCore

Post by Henhouse »

I've modified the core to be able to run off a MaNGOS account database and proposed my code to Oregon and they're going to implement it. This will allow me to now run MaNGOS and Oregon off the same account database so I can run tests and allow other users to get on why going into the realmlist.

The problems that crash the server really only seem to happen when a lot of people are online, it must be something they are doing but we've been unable to narrow it down to what yet.

Making it possible to earn brutal through arena for everyone would really help make the server competitive. Changing donation awards to mounts, arena points and other stuff would be more fair towards the people that aren't able to donate. It's just a thought. I'm sure there are lots of people that disagree, but I figured I'd speak my mind.
I actually agree on this.

The server is good as it is, keep the acc database.
The only real change I want to see with the new core is scripted 70 raids and instances. Maybe get pve gear FROM raids rather than BoJs and / or make t6 gear and "level" equip (and s3) cost lots more, like 30 badges per piece, it would make things more interesting and less EZmode to gear up.
I know that the preBC server will be more focused on PvE, but 70 raiding was fun too, and my guild would really like to progress here (even if it is a pvp server). A scripted Sunwell would be so good for the PvE side, then maybe SC could have t6 loot being dropped rather than Sunwell stuff.

the server is not good as it is, its a pvp battlegrounds server and this core has so many game breaking bugs that keep it from being an half decent PVP server. Hence the reason to change to a different core, the sole idea of it is not to forfill your silly PVE fetishes.

I wassnt talking about the core, I was talking about the acc database and not changing the donation rewards.
I simply suggested what could be nice for people that are bored shitless from endless AB and WSG against overgeared newbs with T6 and full s3 after about 1 day of playing, and want to enjoy pve with more of a challenge.

since you locked that thread hen, i wasnt referring directly to the core, what i meant was that why fix whats not broken? no one has complained about server lag before, if server stayed in cali it would have been fine, like 15 people voted on the forums and you changed it lol, so the other donars get sh~t on lol, ty

For the larger population you would want the server to be in US(people outside of US/EU also get way better ping), sounds like you want the server to be rus only(like AT is now lol idk why they would wanna play here when 95% of the bugs is fixed there)

i have patience for the core change, hence i stoped playing and just have been monitoring the forums for any big changes to the server...but nvm AT clone

First of all, don't bring a closed topic's conversation to another topic. Not only is that common sense it is also "hinted" with the closing of the other topic that the discussion was over.

Secondly, we want a population that is greater US than EU or other countries but despite our wants it just happens that more EU players play this server, so rather than fight it we just accept it cause we are not a bunch of 2 year olds.

And thirdly because I really want to feed your troll powers, we didn't switch to fix lag on Smolderforge. We switched because we want to be able to support 2+ servers better. This has been stated before so I really don't see a reason to say it again, but I figured it wouldn't hurt.

Smolderforge has officially moved to OregonCore now, thank you everyone!

Fartman, maybe you will reconsider. If you want, hit me up with a PM and I'll try working with you to reduce your latency actually. Trust me, I go to ends to help people usually. I seeded an entire 9GB WoW client to someone the other day.... Anyway, I don't like seeing people upset with the server, I try to do everything that is in the best interest of it. I apologize if the move was inconvenient for you.

Enjoy the new Smolderforge 5.0 everyone.
