That has absolutely nothing to do with why we moved. We needed a better server so that we can host PreBC in the future and more realms when we want, more bandwidth and overall just a better host. Considering 80%+ of our players are from Europe we thought it was best to move. The company is stationed in Germany but have two datacenters one in Germany, the other in Netherlands -- which is where we are.

The move to Europe had absolutely nothing to do with competition, it was for a better server and to provide an upper-hand experience to people in Europe.

since i am way too late on this I wont cry TOO much but here are my 5c.
It is well known that it is wise to learn from others' mistakes rather than your own. So without any further hesitation i will procede and compare smolder to AT.

THIS IS NOT AT I KNOW, but hear me out as i make perfect sense.

AT was first situated in United States, when that was so, people from europe Canada and United States had absolutely no trouble playing. EVERYONE faced lag or no lag at all with little to no side errors and bias towards certain populations.
Than it began happening....
Promises of a better server/bandwith in a better place...that place was of course Europe. The Day the server changed every single American realized two things.
1. It is impossible to interupt a cast or CAST ANYTHING WITHOUT HAVING 3 HOUR DELAYS while the european kid backpedals and kicks your butt.
2. Ping showed alright on at, i had constant 130 but it felt like 3k+

So what did AT get? nothing, every American left, thousands of russians invaded and the server's only source of income became the "LOL FULL RELENT on the 3.3 Server"

Since such Big Changes are implemented i suggest to end the season as this move marks a whole new ERA with a whole lot of new things to come thus a whole new season must begin.

That was probably because the server he ran it on was god awful. I played today from eastern US and it ran very smoothly, with 125 ping, so it was like retail to me.

I had Ganksta play and he said he had 175 ping from Western US and he didn't mention anything wrong with the ping. I don't think this is going to massively shit anything in Smolderforge, especially considering the fact the majority of players are from Europe. Also it's very hard for Russians to play on our server without somehow getting ahold of a English client because I flagged our server to ignore the Russian ones and cyrillic letters. Somehow they still get through sometimes.

Not to mention that people outside of US and EU cant play too because those players get best ping to US and shit data routes to EU.

To be honest your fixing whats NOT broken, there are other major issues that you should pay attention to.

To be honest there fartman, I'm getting a little sick of your attitude. This move was scheduled to happen soon so that it could be done before my next billing cycle, or else I would have to pay another month of $90 for the dedicated server in California that I'm not even going to use for the rest of the month.

So I guess you're referring to fixing the core. Ah, well in that case, I'm guessing you would just love to tell me how easy it is. Yeah, I would like to see you even try to turn a server on in Linux with commands, or even more for that matter compile the entire server together, or convert a database from MaNGOS to OregonCore. So please, lose the attitude.

It is very hard to move cores when one crashes with NO error logs being produced. So therefore, I have to infer where the problems are coming from, investigate and try to mitigate the situation.

Now, because of the Brutal Server we brought up when the server was transferring I got to test OregonCore, so I am still actively looking into fixing that. The server crashed once in the first hour, then didn't again later. It brought me to believe the core is unstable, or the problems exist in the World database because it was a fresh character database being used. So I will try to look into that in the future and start looking for anything misplaced or that could be causing the crashes. I will also be learning how to use GDB in Linux so I can fully debug the server and get error logs.

So these major issues are being addressed, but please be patient and give me time. I am a ONE MAN TEAM with stuff that happens in real life that takes time. I eat, and sleep like normal humans too. Give me time, and I will get the problems fixed. I wouldn't have gone to this much trouble already to announce OregonCore, convert the database to give up now. Smolderforge has been up over 2 years and we've had MANY ups and downs but I never quit. That's why we succeed.

Thank you. Closed.
