Changing Passwords Fixed!

Post by Henhouse »

Wooohooo! This has FINALLY been fixed, and it was a problem on my end. Turns out, everyone's accounts have to be in upper case letters. Well all accounts were like "hibobmyname45" as an example.

So, I had to run the query "UPDATE account SET username = UPPER(username);" to make them all uppercase to appear then as "HIBOBMYNAME45". Which did in about 2 seconds (wow for 40,000+ accounts).

If you're wondering WHY THE HECK usernames have anything to do with passwords it's because your password on Smolderforge is encrypted. But it's encrypted with your username and password. Weird? I know, but you login with the password. It's encrypted as: USERNAME,PASSWORD, kinda weird. So this finally fixed that.

You will NOT have to login will all caps, lowercase is fine (this is just a database thing) and your password is the same.

PLEASE KEEP A SECURE PASSWORD ON SMOLDERFORGE, AND DO NOT GIVE YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION OUT!

PS: New accounts created on Smolderforge will also register in uppercase now. So even if you put "yoyoyo3" it'll come into the database as "YOYOYO3". I just had to add the UPPER() tag into the query. :)
