I've been reading on the MaNGOS forums that Blizzard is taking action against almost every private server they can get their hands on. WoWFusion, WoWScape, have been taken down. Not sure about ToxicWoW., however these are HIGHLY popluated servers that get massive profit by ways like making you pay for the expansions, etc. I have noticed many sites with ToS and EULA prohibiting Blizzard to access anything in their pages have not been shut down. Most of this massive servers run on Dedicated servers and the users have no choice when they contact the company, on the other hand I run mine personally so they will have to come though me. I believe Blizzard only threatens you to take it down, which is good I would rather take it down peacefully. Since Smolderforge was never on any lists expect WoWStatus which was just removed I think we'll be okay for now. When one of the first WotLK servers came out during the Alpha(before BETA) of Wrath Blizzard shut them down fast, but they reopened. Strange but I guess Blizzard just wants them down.

I mean I don't try to rob and make profits out of our members, the donations went to a $500+ USD server, montly internet upgrades & payment, web server payments, the domain name, etc. I have made some but nothing compared to a minimum wage job. We also are a testing server, you are the testers. I do not require you to pay to play or anything like that, if you donate, your rewarded with better gear -- NO buying is involved. So I don't think we're classified as one who modifies the game or makes a profit.

WoWStatus.net has disappeared, it's possible it's down.

If this is the case, Smolderforge will be laying low, probably only available to current members until this is sorted out, etc. We'll just see what happens over the course of time. Well, all the better reason to stay on Smolderforge, it's now YOUR private server, closed to the public :P

Holy crap, it sounds like blizzard is making a huge stand on this. Hopefully this blows over.

Rofl it wont its blizzard they are slow but they get things done and there is a lot of loop holes in the TOS and EULA so when they want almost all server could be shut down but we just keep coming back so there is not much to worry about.

WoWStatus.net going down is very very big though. That's been up for years, and it's gone. All our traffic came from that one little ad. If it's gone for good, I don't know what to say really.

But I suppose your right, it would take them a VERY long time to fine us, we'll just keep running normally.

Ya it will take a long time to find us but the problem would be no new poeple. Wowstatus going down is huge. Thats the main place to find private servers. So our best bet is just to wait to see what happens.

The 1-75 bets servers is now gone. Blizzard has also closed Wow Top 200 Private server from other sites aswell. They giving all they got.

And yes, the Terms of Use for WoW state no private servers, everyone that ever played on Smolderforge broke the terms, but you cannot get banned unless you tell Blizzard that.

Yeah i am so glad that blizz is finally closing this shit (private servers in general).
I have played on alot of private servers and i can only say that they are all buggy and the PvP is not real (as in real i mean like blizz) at all because most of the key spells are either bugged or malfunctioning.For example your shitty server-cyclone cannot be removed with trinket or imunity effect such as Ice Block or Divine Shield,Paladins can't dispell Blind,the whole combat state is bugged and rogues can re-stealth quicker that they are supposed to and many many more bugs-i will stop here because if i try to put them all together it would take me 12 hours to write,and i doubt i can post such a long message.
On the topic again-YEAH i really am very happy that Blizz has finally put some shitty private servers to an end.
