We Received a Fake Cease email from "Blizzard"
Posted: 21 Sep 2010, 08:05
So at around 12:09 am Eastern time I got an email from Blizzard's legal department... or, so it said.
Now, all doubts aside I wanted to make sure this could indeed be a real email. So I Googled parts of it and the only results that came up was a letter written in 2006 and that was probably copied and pasted from that site.
Also there was \ in all the quotations that is done from a PHP mailing script to prevent SQL injection. So it would say like "Blizzard" and the email would read \"Blizzard\".
But still, I wanted to make sure this was indeed not fake. So I checked the headers the email came from. Well guess what, unless Blizzard is in Pakistan I really don't think this is real. Here's the headers:
So who ever attempted to do this, probably one of the GMs that got fired or little QQ boys, nice try. But the first thing you should learn about me is that I'm very smart and actually know how to use a computer, unlike you little script kiddies.
So other private servers owners, be careful of people trying to falsify these emails and always check for fake stuff in the letters and always back trace the email headers to find out where it was really from.
If in the event this message was somehow legit and their legal departments need to really contact me from some Pakistan server, they would send me more proof and not a copy & paste message from 2006. If indeed it is real, I ask Blizzard contact me in a more efficient, contactable and not scam-covered method.

[email protected]? Heh, really? Simply Google that and you get scam results. Plus what are the odds Blizzard would target a small community like us and not MoltenWoW, AT, etc?for [email protected]; Mon, 20 Sep 2010 23:09:30 -0500
