Resist?

Dear GM,

I have 5 points in shadow focus + 38 hit rating so that means I'm overhitcapped

So how the fuck can a druid resist my fear? (This happened like 3 or 4 times now :S)

also GotW gives only 33 resistance (if he has improved MotW) but, I have 34 spell penetration and that lows his resistance to 0 again so there is no way he could even resist my fear. This is definatly a bug.

"Talents and gear combined, chance to hit with spells cannot exceed 99%. Casters should keep this cap in mind when considering their gear. In PvP at level 70, anything more than +3% chance to hit is excessive. For PvE raiding, bosses are considered to be 3 levels higher than the caster, meaning +16% is the most that will be effective."

3% is the cap in PvP. This can be attained through hit rating OR talents. We have two talents that increase our chance to hit. Shadow focus and focused power.

For shadow spells, 2/5 (4%) shadow focus is enough to cap you against a lvl 70 PvP target.

Focused power (which no SP's have) affects Smite, Mind Blast, and Mass Dispel only. So, we have nothing that increases our chance to hit with Holy/Disc spells. Two spells that are widely used in a arena by SP's are Dispel and Mass Dispel. To attain 3% spell hit for these spells you need 38 spell hit rating (12.6 spell hit rating is equivalent to 1% spell hit - 12.6 * 3 = 37.8).

Hope that helps. Wowwiki ftw.

I'm not saying that......

I only wanted to report this bug.... (Because that's what this thread is for right?)

So the least thing you can do is take a look at it ;) ! Instead of making some sarcasm post...

did you even read my first post he doesn't has resist gear... ONLY thing he has is MotW or GotW and that can give him max. 33 shadow resist BUT I have 34 spell penetration so that means...... the druid has 0 shadow resistance..

+ I have 38 hit rating as mention in my first post. (Cap) + 5 points in shadow focus (only need 2 points in it for the cap) so that means I'm by far overcapped

Conclusion: He could never resist my fear!

Read the OP next time ;)!

I can explain:
1 thing - Resistence and Hit Cap have nothing common. you can have even 100% and player can resist your spell, you do not miss, he just resist it.
2 thing - ok now its feral druid right? if it is so watch his actions first, he resist becouse maybe he use Bersek, this skill makes him immune to all fear effects (just like warriors Berker Rage).

1. Read the talent Shadow Focus in the Shadow Tree: http://www.gamestool.net/tc/wow243/priestt.php
2. It wasn't a feral druid lol the setup was Resto druid / Warr and the Rdruid resisted the fear..

Redsonia, you play the wotlk realm, please stop posting in TBC. There are specific threads for WOtlk reports.

And, hit and resist have nothing in common. Like stuns are less likely to hit an orc because of their racial, and they resist it. Even just a small base amount is taken into effect by TBC RNG standards. RNG, being the Random Number Generator meaning they can resist just about anything even if they have 1% resistance.
