Ping shoots up in arenas

Hi all,

I am having issues with my ping during arena matches. I start the game with ~150ms ping (normal for me), then it shoots up to 4000 or 5000ms

My character will be unplayabled and my team will lose because I am just sitting there, lagging, smashing buttons, and crying.

I have checked at speedtest.net and other websites - DURING the laggy arena games. According to those speed tests, my internet is fine, speed is 50 to 70 Mbps, local ping is 10ms. After the game, my Smolderforge ping will slowly drop back down to ~150ms, over the course of 10-20 minutes or so.

This seems to be an issue between me and the Smolderforge server. Any ideas? Any addons that would cause this? I don't think it is is addons because my lag issues only happen in about 50-75% of games.

Hi there,

This is indeed very unusual, but I am curious if there is maybe some correlation here between other players that experience these issues.

1. What class/race are you playing when this occurs, or any?
2. What AddOns are you currently using when playing arena?
3. Does this always happen, or only sometimes?

1. orc/shaman, orc/hunter, BE/paly, happens to all of them
2. gladdy, arenalive, closetgnome, atlasloot
3. sometimes

and now, for a big piece of the puzzle.. i tried certain turning certain addons on/off and playing.. the biggest factor was when i turn atlas loot OFF, the # of laggy games dropped by 90%.

I've played 30+ games since turning it off, only lagged out 1-2 times. I used to lag out 50-75% of games.

I'm going to say this is at least somewhat resolved.. i will report back if there are changes or i learn anything else

This issue is not resolved. I have lagged out of 5 straight games. The game will be going fine, no issue, then sudden lag spike to 3000-5000ms. What can I try to do to diagnose this?

What about if you turned Gladdy off? Because our old developer Robinsch/Itslovelol added 'support' for Gladdy and it seriously wouldn't surprise me if his broken code (it always is) is causing massive packet flooding to a client. That's why I asked these questions (I had my suspicious, but it's so rare it's hard to know what is causing it for people).
