Hello Henry!
I'm trying to reset the password on my account I have been inactive with and due to Microsoft meddling with my e-mail adress (they claimed it was stolen, I had to go through some verification stuff to prove it's mine) I get the message account name and e-adress do not match, and I'm absolutely 100% positive they in fact do. Microsoft reset my hotmail, and they wiped out my whole inbox, so I think the system doesn't recognize the mail and doesn't have a mail assigned to the account.
So my question to you is: could you please contact me via private message so I can tell you the account name and mail so you can check and/or reset my pass manually if something went wrong?

This is best handled over email.
If you're getting that error that means you either used a different email address on the account, or it was faked a long time ago when the account was made.
If you still have access to the account you can change the password on our website on the account manager.
