Installation issues.

Post by kotaroseta »

I keep having issues with a folder or file when I try to start my game after downloading. Am I doing something wrong?

You won't get an answer until you describe the issue, what's happening? Is something popping up? Error?

Yeah. Don't know if it's because the launcher keeps trying to run. No matter how I try to start the game the launcher keeps trying to come up to update to the latest patch then gives me an error of not working.

You haven't edited the realmlist folder then. You need to set it to our realm, not blizzard's one.

How would I go about doing that. I can't find a step by step on how to properly install the game.

Open the file with Notepad, and change the contents to:
set realmlist connect.smolderforge.com
Save it. If you have UAC (google it) turned on, it won't allow you to save it. If that happens either 1.) turn UAC off. 2.) Save to Desktop as "realmlist.wtf" NOT .txt! and then click and drag into the WoW folder and overwrite.

Yes, then Burning Crusade, then install all the patches and do not let the launcher auto-update!

That line affects the launcher trying to auto update. So if you plan on using the launcher, change that to
set patchlist connect.smolderforge.com
And it will no longer auto-patch.
