Connection trouble (Windows 7)
Hey there, everyone. I am a new user to this particular private server. I have a few friends here that play and speak of it in very high regard. However, I am having difficulty connecting to the server.
My version of WoW is only installed up to The Burning Crusades, version 2.4.3
Here are the contents of my realmlist.wtf file:
set realmlist smolderforge.dyndns.info
set patchlist smolderforge.dyndns.info
I have tried logging in with the set patchlist as "set patchlist eu.version.worldofwarcraft.com" and as "set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com", but nothing seems to work.
I log in to see "Connecting" for approximately 15-20 seconds before a window pops up stating "Unable to Connect." I also see a window on the left with information regarding to a 27/04 Wednesday update.
What am I doing wrong/what is going wrong, and what can I do in order to correct it?

Hi, first off welcome!
This may be a problem with your file saving like "realmlist.wtf.txt" which can be a common problem in Windows. If you enable viewing of file extensions you can fix this problem easily. That is usually the problem, if not you can always try unblocking the problem and making sure ports 8085 and 3724 are open.

Thank you for the welcome and in the information, Henhouse. Unfortunately, the problem persists, but I have somewhat progressed. Now I am able to go from Connecting to Authenticatiing (albeit briefly), and am met with a window stating "The information you have entered is not valid" and am told to enter the European WoW website.

Restarted, reinstalled into Users instead of Program Files, restarted again. Tried with Firewall completely off. Nothing has changed.Raku wrote:Try restarting comp?

Then that means you're connecting to something. Probably us because if it was retail it would have started downloading patches to where you get that "Restart" button.RaikoAragon wrote:Thank you for the welcome and in the information, Henhouse. You sure you made an account for TBC?

I believe so, unless forum accounts and server accounts are not one and the same?Henhouse wrote:Then that means you're connecting to something. No they never have been. So if you haven't created an account, make sure you do so:RaikoAragon wrote:I believe so, unless forum accounts and server accounts are not one and the same?Henhouse wrote:Then that means you're connecting to something. Re: Connection trouble (Windows 7)
Hahaha, thank you for the clarification. I will create a server account and log in when I can. Hopefully (and likely), that will solve the connection issues. Thank you, Henhouse.Henhouse wrote: No they never have been. So if you haven't created an account, make sure you do so:
