Difficulties with patching

Post by Tenjousuki »

Ok... I installed wow and TBC, tried to patch, got denied cause it said I needed admin privleges, even though I AM the admin account on my pc. No matter what I did, it stayed the same.
Uninstall, reinstall, won't let me install the patches i DL'd from the guide post on this forum.
Uninstall, reinstall, it automatically patched to current live game
So now... Patches are up to date... realmlist is on smoulderforge setting... can't log in cause it's patched too far?
I'm having difficulties : /
Will someone please be the light at the end of my tunnel?

Don't install to Program Files, and run patches as admin. (Right-click, run as admin)

If you download the TBC installer from WoW's own website, it automatically patches you up to 3.0.2, so make sure you download it from this link.

I have the disks for WoW and TBC, which are what i'm installing from.
I installed WoW, the TBC, then patched up to 2.4.3.8606 with the files found in the links on one of the guides on this forum. Now it tells me to install TBC again >.> I've seen posts saying this has happened to people, but i'm not sure whether i should do the install ~ or if that would screw me over again...
----------------
Edit: I installed to a public folder on the pc this time

If you're at 2.4.3, you're good to go. Edit your realmlist.wtf to:
set realmlist smolderforge.dyndns.info
set patchlist smolderforge.dyndns.info
To prevent auto-patching to Wrath.
