From official patch 5.2.0 changelog:

Transmogrification rules have been broadened for several weapon types.

Two-handed axes, maces, and swords can be Transmogrified to each other.
One-handed axes, maces, and swords can be Transmogrified to each other.
Staves and polearms can be transmogrified to each other.

We all know that the population is going down and we need to start acting to refresh the game, taking some changes from future patches is a safe way of doing it, as we are not reinventing wow, those changes are published by Blizzard and are safe to use from a game balance point of view.

So go trough future patches and see what would you like to have, ofc be realistic, we can't add new battlegrounds or stuff like that, but minor changes shouldn't be a problem.

It implies a modified patch, model editing is the way to go, if you really need it.
edit : Misreading, sorry. But still, when you see a warrior with a sword, you'll not expect him to land you a mace stun.

Well, as we already have a fully working transmog system letting a sword transmog into a mace really shouldn't be to much of a challenge.

so when you see a warrior with mace you fake cast the mace stun which is random? i don't get it, what advantage do you get from knowing what type of weapon the warrior is wearing?

When I see a warrior with a mace on SF, I expect to be stunned enough not to be able to cast a single spell, but that's another issue.

To stay on the real shizznit, I'm not talking about the inverse way Mayore.

Stop crying baby, same shit everyone complained about before transmog was out, there was a topic with over 20 pages of babyes crying about not begin able to tell the gear, and nothing changed when it was implemented.

Also this is a change introduced by Blizzard, and they know better then you how to make wow, what to allow and what not.

You can get better looks with this change.
