But then we'd have cows killing cows, the undead killing and genuinely cannibalizing other undeads, not to mention goats beating up gnomes... it would be utter chaos.

We do not care about such RP shits. Give us CF BGs, we just can't play when we log in for some minutes in order to do a BG.
It's legit that players are leaving.

Cross-faction BG's aren't really necessary, people balance it out after awhile and if it really is that big of an issue, just swap to a character of the opposite faction and help balance it out yourself.

As stated above, the idea of having horde/ally on the same team isn't exactly favorable. It takes away the feel of legitimacy in terms of actually simulating retail to some extent.
It's not NEEDED either.

that sounds like some roleplaying, do you want to play or fight for the horde?

horde is sharing chat, playermall and many other things with alliance but cross-faction bgs would be a problem?
