Prevent Gear swapping in arena

How this may sound like a controversial opinion, but let me explain the logic behind this proposal.

With add-ons (or even just using /who) players now know who they are fighting in arena and what comps they are running against most of the time once they enter the arena.

I have noticed that a lot of teams (including the top ranked teams) are going crazy on custom gear set-ups to fight certain teams. Some warrior druid teams warrior's are swapping to 4xT6 and as much pve gear as possible when they fight mirrors to get quick gibs on healers.

On retail it would have been difficult to have so many possible gear combinations, but I also seem to remember that you could not swap gear/trinkets once you had entered the arena in tbc (can anyone confirm this?)

So my proposal is that once players enter the arena zone they are unable to swap gear and trinkets/rings etc.

Are you sure you can swap gear before the arena game begins? I always thought it was changed to before you entered the Arena game. But I may have been wrong. I do remember wearing Shadow resist sets in early TBC arena. :/

You couldn't change gear once the arena had started, but could in the prep room.

And even after Blizzard implemented this, people still did it by predicting what they were going up against. Most noticeable would be shadow resistance gear vs Warlock teams.

But sure, you couldn't really get all the gear on retail that you can here. Or, well, you could, it was just unlikely. Then again it was just as unlikely for anyone to rock as much SWP crap in pvp, as people are doing here.

Most teams don't seem to do this, but a few do and it gives them a big advantage because they always know exactly what comp they are fighting. Like mage priest for example. When fighting rogue teams the mage will stack decent resilience, but when they know they are fighting warrior druid the mage goes all out pve and can just blow stuff up.

yeah try playing in the 'normal' gear against such retarded combos as rog/rog or rog/war.

That is because of access to SWP gear, rogues running about with 2.5k ap, and improved expose armour. I don't see a problem with switching to full resilience weapons/wands, but I really don't think gear swapping was an intended/good mechanic for arena.

Rogues and warriors are on crack atm, but allowing items such as hand of the deceiver was always going to create such problems.

it actually was disabled in the beginning of s3 if i remember right, and it was definitly the right thing to do...but then again in can fully understand clothies concerns about pve rogue and well, face the fact that 95% of the time you'll face teams that could probably be won wearing t0^^

It was disabled once the match had started, not in the prep room.

are you sure?...cuz i am pretty sure that it got disabled in prep room as well, but maybe im mixing it up with arena tournament, at least its been a while since retail^^
