Hey, 3 days ago, I made my own MaNGOS 3.0.9 server just to have some fun with IRL friends.
I expected it to be really buggy, but it is absoluetly not. I know you have already upgraded to 3.0.3 once, and it wasn't really playable. But I think you should really give it another try. You will BE AMAZED by how much stuff is working.

You should really try it out, but if you don't have time etc that would understandable.
Things I've tried:
All glyphs for Rogues works
Arcane (fully working) & Frost for Mages (a few bugs on the Frost specc, shattered barrier and Finger of Frost)
Assassination & Subletly fully working for Rogues , Fan of Knives works
Glyph of Evocation works
Arms & Protection fully working for Warriors
Resto for Druid fully working
Resto and Elemental fully working for Shamans
Retri pala works (Judgement bug, goes oom quick.)

HoTs&DoTs scale properly.

Didn't have too much time trying out everything else but we were 12 people on server and arena was intense. ;D GOTTA LOVE MaNGOS!

To be honest...I dont know if retri pala going OOM fast is a bad thing (for everyone whos NOT a ret)

We do not have the resources at this time to open another server, if we did Pre-BC realm would come in first over a Wrath one. Also there are many changes to the game what we do not like on a development level. First, GMs cannot talk to players unless the player agrees to talk to them, which is just horrible. Second, over 1/2 the special unused maps got removed from the game in 3.0 therefore we would lose stuff like Scarlet Citadel that's been planned and stuff like Emerald Dream, etc.

Therefore, for us as developers it's much easier to stay on one version, not have to worry about future updates to the database, we can just fix everything ourselves, and we can grow the server as 2.4.3. We went to 3.0.3 for 2 1/2 days. The max people on was about 23. The max uptime was about 8 hours.

On 2.4.3, normal uptime is usually a day, sometimes more. And is usually at it's max of 105 people during peak hours.

When we announced we were updating to 3.0 the people currently on the server when it was shutting down were whispering us and making tickets begging us not to upgrade. As I've played before on retail for Wrath servers, the game is nothing but more unbalanced. Where it may seem fun it many more areas, it also loses enjoyment in many others.
