A /GMHELP Chat Channel In Game

I played on another private realm just before this one that had a /Gmhelp chat channel so that any player online could just join the channel and ask away with questions that maybe only a GM could answer,

I think it would decrease the number of tickets placed by players and also help solve a lot of issues faster.

I've never had to deal with a GM in game so i'm not sure on how much of a benefit it could really offer, but it's just an idea.

Not at all. This would make matters tremendously worse. Everyone spamming for help in a channel and trying to assist multiple people at once? No way, that's why there's tickets.

There'd be the same number of tickets because everyone would have a ticket open and be in chat channel. It'd end up taking more time, too. Think about it; people would make a ticket and be in the channel. If a GM responds to the channel, resolves the issue, there will undoubtedly be a lot of people that keep their ticket open simply forgetting to close it. Doubling back through to help the same person twice for the same issue. :\

The global channel is fine for simple issues anyone can help with in my opinion. Ideally, Gm's are only needed for special tasks which is why they have additional commands and whatnot. Troubleshooting questions and the like should be able to be answered by other players in game.

Correct me if I'm wrong of course. That's just my take on it all.

Ahh, point made then. Maybe it just worked on the other realm due to the slightly lower population.
