Badge-rewarding quests
Badge-rewarding quests
How about creating a new way of earning badges, besides the bg related quests?
I'm talking about some quests, like those from Ouel-danas, but spread through all the Outland (e.g. in nagrand at Horde and Ally base, in hellfire in honor's hold and thrallmar etc.).
This way, you spread out people from the only 2 main locations and you provide them with a new way to spend time, earn badges and ocasionally world pvp (pvp should be allowed in these zones, unlike the isle).
Also, as somebody already said in another topic, Silithus should be enabled as PVP zone and, if possible, a daily quest or something which requires to get 20 (or whatever) kills in that particular area, thus encouraging ppl to join.

Re: Badge-rewarding quests
I LIKE this. Also however, you need to raise BoJ prices. People get high endgame gear and it's totally meaningless. You should raise the cost of upper level gear and equipment.

Gear prices have been raised several times, one just recently actually with the addition of BT and SWP.Aegrotatio wrote:I LIKE this. Also however, you need to raise BoJ prices. People get high endgame gear and it's totally meaningless. You should raise the cost of upper level gear and equipment.

Re: Badge-rewarding quests
I would like to begin from t1, or just a lower set, so you cant finish your char in 1-2 days like now xD..
It also gives a better retail-like feeling if not everyone is running around with s3 and t5, it will also be more fun if you've got the end-game equipment and the players with this equipment will be more experienced :).. atm the difference is so minimal from the starter and the end gear :S
This idea came from an old old 2.4.3 server, Chaoscrusade, which had all the time about 3-5k players online.. it was mainly a pvp based server, the system there was you start a char at lvl 70 with the t1 or t2 and some weapons as good as the set.. and you got an amount of gold (like 2g) for each h-kill you get in the BG's and about 20g if you win the BG.. and with this gold you can buy better armor, enchants, gems, etc. like t3 items for 50g each from vendors... that server was absolutely phenomenal..
but how I said it was pvp based and had no pve content.. but u could also use the same system for pve with the gold and drops from the mobs u kill :).
Just a suggestion from me, I think it would increase the number of players on this server :)
and when Im already at it I would also suggest to remove the exchange between alliance and horde (maybe when we've got more players).. so there will be much less flamers when you kill somebody (or kill with a grp someone lol).. I would say 40% of your kills are actually beginning to write you messages like "l2p 1v1" etc..
what do you think about it? :)
and Im sorry about my bad english : S

Re: Badge-rewarding quests
It would be almost impossible to do that in Smolderforge's current state. I would open a new blizz-like real if I were to accomplish this.Sandero wrote:I would like to begin from t1, or just a lower set, so you cant finish your char in 1-2 days like now xD..

Re: Badge-rewarding quests
BUMP. I'd love a SEMI blizz like server. Like maybe start at level 60 with whatever vanilla gear we want and continue on to 70, normal rates and what. Just think, going into hellfire with AQ gear <3 <3 <3.It would be almost impossible to do that in Smolderforge's current state. I would open a new blizz-like real if I were to accomplish this.
So Henhouse... is this a possibility? Like would you consider doing this?

Re: Badge-rewarding quests
There's many things I'd love to see happen, hell I would have loved to see our Pre-TBC server still up. The thing is, I can only handle so much, which is why Pre-TBC fell under. I cannot do everything myself, and I've learned that the hard way. It's very hard to manage 1 server, let alone two. When I was running Pre-TBC I completely swifted gears away from TBC and began working all day on Pre-TBC. It would take days to get bosses scripted correct (since they all have to be repaired) and so many quests might be bugged which I'd have to fix, or make work-arounds. Then of course, I'm the head guy when it comes to tickets, emails, and forums. So I have to do EVERYTHING all at once.Aegrotatio wrote:BUMP. I'd love a SEMI blizz like server. It's... exhausting and damn near impossible to do alone. The problem is there's never anyone with my experience to help me, only occasionally will I come across great programmers like Natsuki that helped out for a while. But the amount of time they work, for free easily is a reason they want to stop after about a month of helping.
So to answer your question, yes this is something that would be really cool. However, I would not be able to do it in my current state. I would need a much, much bigger team -- one that I could rely on. Before I would be able to venture into anything like this. If I could accomplish that, this would very-well be possible.

Re: Badge-rewarding quests
Henhouse, I don't know shit, but anything I could do to assist, let me know. I'm committed to the real WoW (pre-wrath) and Oregon core. I can especially do bugtesting, if that's any help.
