Hello. For now there is not much incentive to win battlegrounds. The rewards are not very good after gear is complete.
I really like the idea of an honor system. It could work such as exchanging marks of honor for something like weapon fragments. Maybe turn in battleground marks 20 at a time to exchange 1 battleground tokens. The person who exchanges the most marks and has the most battleground tokens at the end wins.
The top 3 on each faction (maybe up to 10 players) should receive some sort of reward. It could operate in seasons like arena. Maybe once a month or 2 months. The top 3, especially #1 should get something unique, a title?, a mount?, i do not know. It is cool because as in classic WoW, the PvP mounts were for rank 12+, which took a significant amount of play time to achieve. When you see the mounts/gear, you knew every person had put a lot of effort.
This is a GREAT idea because unlike arenas, it does not involve skill or strategy. It is almost entirely based on how much time you can play. So do we want people playing Smolderforge excessively? the answer is yes, Yes we do. That is how the game used to get people so madly addicted. This could be huge for the server. The weapon fragments does not have a competitive aspect to it. An honor system will give people a reason to keep logging in and have at least some objective to work to, as the only objective for now is counting HKs.
More incentive to win battlegrounds (Honor System)
Re: More incentive to win battlegrounds (Honor System)
Something I have wanted to do for some time now is battleground match history like we have for arena. Ideally, I'd like to shift the focus away from honorable kills and towards honor farming itself, through completing BGs, doing the objectives, etc.
One idea was to reinstate a more valuable title system, like in vanilla where it's based on honor gained during a specific period of time. Too many people have the top title on Smolderforge, and there's no real challenge towards earning it anymore. You're not at risk to lose that title.
I feel that your idea of getting tokens and turning them in could literally be, in essence, honor points over a week/month, etc. measured by some means (website, for example), with in-game titles updating accordingly.
