Re: Smoke's Smoking Suggestions

Post by Henhouse »

Let me first say this is probably one of the most well-formatted and organized posts I have ever see in my life. I am so accustomed to the simply, two sentence structure suggestions commonly posted here. Well-done job! ^_^

These are all really great suggestions and I love where you're coming from on a great deal of them. I see that you're planning to add to the list later, so I'll keep checking back. We have some plans in motion to start reducing portals and migrating the BG/arena to the cities, so that less portals will be needed. The theme is also a cool idea, the mall hasn't been edited in a very, VERY long time. The vendors crowded around the Sunwell Plateau we're suppose to have a theme of preparation for an assault on the Sunwell. This was because the mall was created right when 2.4 came out, long ago.

I like the idea of a more theme, sitting around a fire, critters, etc. And surely a reorganization -- this will take some time to complete and will throw off a lot of people but if we do it right -- it should come together nicely.

Changes to the forums -- love it. I just haven't had the time to plan how I wanted it. I was probably going to go with a Retail approach of having a "Damage, Healing, and Tanking" forum for each instead of one for every class, but I'm not sure. There's also the problem of not THAT many people using our forums like I wish they would.

Anyway, I need to be going now but I will surely look back on this topic as a guide when I work on some of this stuff ;).

Thanks for the positive feedback, Henhouse. I'm so glad you like my suggestions, which encourages me to write more and more. About the class-forums: With not so many people using the forums, your idea obviously makes sense. I just need a forum, where I can post my 1337 shaman healing guide (which is yet to be written ;D ). I'll probably update some stuff tomorrow already, as I want to finish that list of missing items at the donor mall.

The items "missing" from the donor mall is intentional. Those items drop from Scarlet Citadel as they were meant to promote that raid when it was new. However, we might do as we did with Thoridal and add badge requirement for them in the donor mall.

the reason no one goes to the dueling areas is because they are seperate for horde/alliance, the dueling area should be a neutral zone for everyone to..... duel

Allright, good idea. I will remove that point in my list. Thanks for pointing that out. I actually think, we should keep things the way they are in this context as it still should encourage raiding.

At the moment that is definitely a good reason, however, once Henhouse moves the Battlemasters to the Main Cities, the dueling areas are at the right position where they are now.

By the way, I updated the main post a bit, talking about the High-Level-Stuff vendor.

Sounds good. Also the highlevel stuff vendor... He does need removing.

I have a question/proposition for all of you: if I ran a dev server seperate from Smolderforge giving you GM accounts, would you like to develop with me? I can teach you about vendors, etc since I would just need help with the mall and theme. This would be for the mall though, not like an actual hired development team.

I can teach how to do these things very quickly too. A lot of stuff will need to be handled by me in the database though, for extr things. Ventrilo would be required and I'd have to do it at a time on the weekend and a time which everyone could make it.

Wow, what a great offer. Of course I'd love to do that with you. As I live in london, I could work on saturdays, pretty much from 1PM to 10PM GMT. Other dates can be discussed, I'm flexible. Count me in ^_^.

I'll research some Mangos stuff, so I'm a little prepared. Also, I'll work on an Off-hands Item list to add to the highlevelstuff vendor, or a new vendor.

/w me ingame if you need anything and thanks again for that offer.

I'd be willing to help you out Henhouse. I would need a quick runthrough on the commands needed, but once that's out of the way, I'd definitely be willing and capable of helping you on that development server.

Smoke, since it would take far too long to have like a sign-up sheet of people wanting to help out, etc. Just I'll try to find a time when you can get on a dev server to help out with this.

Kk. Whisper me ingame or send me a pm. I just had to reinstall WoW, because I f***ed around with C++ too much, trying to create a Repair.app for mac & 2.4.3. It destroyed my WoW-Folder and I noticed I hadn't run Time Machine on my new external yet QQ, Anyways, I was off for the last 2 days and am back now.

I'll get online, as soon as I got things sorted out over here (meaning, the installation). By the way: I'll be on holiday for six days starting next Sunday and I will come back on Saturday the 26th. I'll be online on the forums during that time (every now and then) but not ingame, I'm afraid.

Another question: How long would it take to create the new forums? I feel like writing some guides, whilst thinking about a good Ingame Event Suggestion. ^_^
