Donation - BG Marks.

Post by Luecifer »

Hey all, I realize I might not be the first to suggest this, but I looked on the suggestions part of the forums and went through the first 6 pages, also tried searching but didn't find anything, maybe I used the wrong tags or something, anyway, if this topic has already been discussed and adressed I apologize.

So, about my suggestion then;
I think adding the BG marks to the donation page would be useful, since you can already buy the best PvP gear by donating 5$, once you do there's really nothing to waste your honor on - except things like Grand Marshal/High Warlord.

The thing is these pieces cost some honor and a big amount of marks, now, you also have the option to donate 10$ for 200 BoJ's and the tooltip on this option suggests that if you want to, you can convert it to honor, the way I see it this option is, right now, almost worthless seeing as you can already get the best PvP gear for only 5$ and if you want the HWL/GM gear then you would still need the marks for each piece which also cancels out the use of honor from donations.

To put it simple, this would more than likely bring in more donations to the server while it also boosts gameplay for some, the only downside I see with this is that it might make these sets less rare and attractive in the eyes of some players since they are now more easily attainable through donating.

However, according to me, it isn't a challenge to get this gear without donating, all it does is take hours of BG farming, now this would be understandable if the gear in question was high-end or good at all for a level 70 character, but it isn't, all it does is affect the way your gear looks if transmogrified so I personally see no harm in making it easily attainable for donators.

I also understand that when it comes to adding things related to transmogrification it's a bit of a hassle due to everyone having different preferances and such when it comes to gear, but implementing this would give the chance for each player, regardless of class and race, to get their hands on some new cool gear the easy way without you (admin/dev) even having to add anything in-game.

This is not something that seems extremely important to me, and I won't shed tears if the suggestion is shot down, it just seemed like something that was easy enough to do without much effort but still had a positive impact on the server, sorry for the wall of text I'm a little tired and tend to talk too much, let me know what you think - peace.

(Edited to make reading easier, too lazy to rewrite though.)

Formating the OP more readable wouldnt hurt, reading this is a pain.
Seems like a way to make cash and I dont see any downsides, why not.

Well, seeing as 10 BG marks = 4 badges (5 if AV) it would be nice to be able to. Or even 6-10k honor=>10 Marks of choice. (Yes, the honor cost exceeds what you get from turning ten marks in at BG master, for obvious reasons.)

Considering how Horde performs in 99.9999999999999% of AVs here, it would be nice to have an alternative to running 40 AVs to buy, say, the HWL helm. Especially, since AV is not in the normal BG rotation.
In fact, it'd be awesome if you could just swap marks for AV ones. I can understand why it wouldn't work well for others, such as WSG and AB. But it's unnecessary for those anyway, as those BGs are so much more frequent, and actually winnable as Horde.

Aye I was really tired when I wrote that, my timezone is GMT+1 and it was somewhere around 4-5 AM I wrote this haha.
Anyway, tl;dr:
Make BG marks accessible through donation - More donations and possibly more players while not affecting the gameplay in a negative way, and at the same time rekindle the use of donating for BoJ's and turning them in for honor, it's actually a win-win in my eyes.

Add to this that once someone has donated 5$ for access to donor mall and brutal gear, they'd probably want to transmog it after a while, now the stereotype kind-of lazy donator will after a fairly short amount of time long to transmog his end game gear, this will make him either have to vote for tokens or donate another 8$ (more likely), once he has donated for transmogrification he's obviously going to need something to transmogrify his gear into, and that's where this option comes in.
It becomes a pretty good follow-through on the donation chain and most players who don't mind donating will end up spending 23$ (5$+8$+10$) on at least one character.

What I like about this suggestion is that it doesn't prevent non-donors from getting something only donors can get while it still gives the donors a sweet advantage if they want to.

Since marks seem to be only desired really for transmog gear, I don't entirely see the purpose of having people donate for them. It seems a little silly. I'd rather add them for vote points. Thoughts on that?

That could work too, althought I believe that this will decrease the amount of long-term players while it might give a slight boost in newcomers, because if the marks cost vote points then after a while everyone will have HWL/GM gear for transmog and the rarity of the gear is completely gone, enabling marks through donations would increase donations while only a smaller portion of the realm/server gets their hands on this gear the easy way.
I wouldn't know for sure though, this is just what I belive!

Why not both? Tremendous amount of vote points and couple bucks for donation. People will get tired from voting midway and donate. Tadaa

I could agree with this if the amount of vote points required is high enough haha :)
