Personally I think this is what made Quel'danas a great place for world-pvp back in the day. It has a lot of different places and the quests are well portioned over a large well varied area which made those small skirmishes possible. I personally dislike Hyjal since there is nothing there besides point X and Y, which leads all the active players in the zone to one of said points and the large group ganks begins. Sure, ganking occurred in Quel'Danas as well, but not on that scale since the currently active players (both roaming for kills and questing) were spread out all over the place. So if a 1v1 or 1v2 (or whatever) skirmish popped up it didn't always mean that nearly everyone else in the zone would flock to it like sharks to a poor lads blood.

The charm world-pvp has (or should I say had) was that it was spontaneous and on-the-fly. Not premeditated. That's what battlegrounds are for, which is exactly what Hyjal feels like. Just that it's not focused on anything besides sitting inside/outside a camp until you get bored.

But I do get your point with Quel'danas, it's a place where people earn badges to gear up. And said people are most of the time not fully geared which leads to them being outgeared in some fights. It's just that there are already loads of ways to get the badges around here. I mean you can get 14 badges a day without even logging on. On top of this the bg repeatable and daily quest gives badges, people run minor raids for badges and you get three free badges when you create a character. It's not like it's hard to sort decent gear around here, and then you already start out with somewhat decent gear to begin with. So even if people were to be undergeared when venturing out into the dreaded Quel'danas zone they would be far from free kills if they didn't allow that themselves. They're already given the tools to fight back for free.

On top of this it would promote grouping and the social aspects of the game. If players feel threatened by all those mean guys hurting them in Quel'danas, group up and reclaim that lost ground. It's not a single player game after all. Sure, this works both ways. Some guilds/social groups around here would exploit this and gang up on people running quests or roaming the zone in smaller groups. This just leads back to what I said, get more friends. Alternately play it smart. And even further, it's not like this is an unknown phenomenon here on Smolderforge anyway. Look at the premade vs random BG's, it's the same principle with the difference being that the random team can't bring more friends but only play it smart. So in a way, people would have more of a fair chance in Quel'danas (which could be countered with the first group bringing more as well, but that's a different discussion).

I'm sorry if I come off as a bit too anti-this-idea-open-up-pvp-in-quel'danas-already-damnit, I don't meant to. If you can somehow cook up some cool place where we could get the old world-pvp feel back that would be great, I would love it. It's just that Hyjal or something like it isn't really what world-pvp is about. At least not in my humble oppinion. And here you already have most of the work done for you. All you'd really have to do was to remove the sanctuary status and possibly move the crafting npc's to a safer location.

Edit: My God that is a lot of text. I better throw an image in to soothe the eyes.
