List of Forum Things...

Post by Bleu213 »

Hi. I'm sorta new here, but I've got a few suggestions of things I believe could improve the SF user experience, and possibly the staff experience as well. I condensed this down to one post so as not to spam the suggestion forum.

//Bug Forum Layout
I suggest we change the layout of the Bug section of the forums to where class related bugs, quest related bugs, other random bugs, and fixed bugs are in their own separate sections. The reason for this is to condense the amount of bugs in one section. This will further prevent duplicate posts as users can easily see all bugs for a certain class or for just quests, for example. Also, it will allow users the ability to see what talents or spells for their favorite class are bugged so they are not spending useless points, or casting useless spells, or doing useless quests, et al.

Furthermore, including a section for fixed bugs will allow users to see in essence a changelog of server fixes and to see what has been recently fixed.

An easy way to implement this would be to have the Bug Report forum have sub-forums allowed with each class having their own sub-forum, a quest sub-forum, Battleground sub-forum, Raid/Dungeon sub-forum, Item sub-forum, General sub-forum and a Fixed Issues sub-forum.

Also, before anyone mentions the class sub-forums, eh. While they are nice for listing the bugs and whatnot, they're not in the bug forums, so they're not officially listed, and I don't think the class sub-forums should be used for a list of bugs.

//List of Server/Realm Rules
My second suggestion is to have a topic (and stickied) for Server/Realm rules. I've searched and searched for a while, but I have yet to stumble upon any page noting the list of rules, bannable spells/abilities, and other various things. This would make it a lot easier for people to know what is and is not acceptable here at SF. I believe it would do best posted in the General Discussion or News and Updates sections. Or both. I like both.

It's like the other day, I was Cross-Faction healing outside of Orgrimmar. I didn't know it was against the rules. A GM came up and advised we disband the group. We did, I promptly apologized and what-not, but if there was a rules thread denoting that Cross-Faction healing in PvP was not okay it wouldn't have been an issue in the first place.

Also listing in this the punishment for certain things would be nice. For example, listing Cross-Faction healing with Warning/5 day ban/Permanent ban would denote first and subsequent offenses so people know not to do this.

Well, that's all I have for now. Respond, and tell me what you think!

Oh, something else I forgot, a Guides section one the forums for player made guides. ^_^

/agree. Especially the Guides section. I made a Kara guide.

As someone who fills out like MOST of the PvE bugs on the server, I can say that class bug forums are too much. I read the bug report section every day to see if shit has gotten fixed for me to test. There aren't enough bugs per class to make a whole thing. Like, when was the last time you heard about a... mage bug? Or warrior bug? I haven't seen it.

Proposition:
Bug report forum should be decided into three sub forums. Missing Object Bugs (those are the most bugs), Spell/mechanical bugs, and Database bugs.

The reason is in the fixing method. I think that Missing Objects are just a simple restore thing. Also, they make up A LOT of bugs. Mechanical/Spell Bugs, I think those are software wise the same thing, and are dealt with on the basis of the Smolderforge server. Database issues are with the Oregon Core database, and I think those may need to be dealt with as such. I'm not sure, but that's my general understanding of how that works. So then the bugs could be grouped into the way they would be dealt with.

Sounds good?
